Google's warning

Technology company Google has given password warning to crores of users. For this, Google has added a password check-up add on feature in Google Chrome. Through this feature, users can check their password. The reason behind the launch of this feature is the threat of 4 billion users’ username and password being hacked. According to Google, the usernames and passwords of these users have been hacked. These users should check their username and password through this feature and change the password by following the steps mentioned.

According to Google, in the initial phase, about 6.5 lakh users have checked their passwords through this feature so far. In the first month of checking, around 21 million users’ passwords were flagged, of which 3 lakh 16 passwords were found to be unsafe. You can also check your username and password in this extension. If your username and password is unsafe or is not perfect, then if you log in to any website with this username and password, then there is a risk of data theft and account hacking.

Google Chrome Extension

  • To check your username and password through this tool, first of all, you need to go to Chrome Store and add to Chrome the password check-up tool.
  • After adding the password check-up tool, you will see the right side password check-up icon of the browser.
  • After enabling this tool, if you enter your username and password in any website, then it will inform you whether your username and password are affected. If your username and password are affected, it will ask you to change the password and red flag it. Your account will be protected as soon as the password is changed and you will get a green signal.

Take care while creating a password

  • If you keep a very simple password, the risk of your account getting hacked increases up to 200 times.
  • Never open your private information profile in public networks. If you have to, you can open Google Incognito mode.
  • While keeping the password, do not use any constant alphabet or number in it.
  • Always use alphanumeric character when creating a password. Also, if possible, special characters can also be used.
