Ban on PFI by Centre For Five Years

Popular Front of India or PFI and its affiliated organizations or institutions have been declared as ‘illegal entities’ by centre government because of PFIs Links with terrorist organisation. The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification stating that PFI will continue to be considered as an illegal institution for the next five years.

PFI’s links With Terrorist Organizations

The central government, in its order, has spoken of ‘hardening a particular section by running a secret agenda’ and ‘linking to terrorist organizations’ on PFI. The order reads, “The PFI and its affiliated organizations or affiliated institutions or leading organizations operate as a socio-economic and political organization, but with a covert agenda to radicalize a particular section of the society, to radicalise the concept of democracy. PFI exposes a threat to the internal security of the country and it also a disrespect to the constitution of the nation. “The PFI has also had links with the terrorist organization Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh. Both of these are banned organizations.” The Home Ministry order stated that “there are several instances of PFI’s links with global terrorist groups.

Raids conducted By NIA, ED and state police in Various States

Some members of PFI have joined ISIS and have participated in terrorist activities in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Some cadres of PFI.” They have been killed in conflict zones of these countries. Many cadres have been arrested by the state and central police.” Ban imposed after raid In the past, large-scale raids were conducted on the houses of PFI offices, leaders and members across the country. Raid conducted by The  NIA, ED and state police yesterday. More than 150 people were arrested for their alleged links with the PFI after raids in seven states of the country. On September 27, raids were conducted in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam and Madhya Pradesh. Similar raids were conducted against PFI five days back also. On September 22, 106 people were arrested in raids in 15 states. PFI was established on February 17, 2007. It is basically an organization of South India.
