Gujarat Election Results 2022

Gujarat BJP win : In Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears set for an win unprecedented seventh consecutive term in office. The party is leading in 155 seats in the western state for the Congress, whose position as the BJP’s main rival is at risk given that it is only leading in 18 seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party, or AAP, is in the lead in six seats after launching an aggressive campaign to make it a three-cornered race for the first time in Gujarat.

In a House of 182, the BJP, which won 99 seats in the 2017 elections, is expected to take between 117 and 151 seats, and the Congress, between 16 and 51. It is also optimistic about the prospect of the AAP losing votes in Congress, which is good news for the saffron party. The BJP achieved its greatest performance in Gujarat in 2002, when it won 127 seats in the 182-member state assembly.

The results of the election will determine whether the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has a potential to become a national party and a rival to the BJP. The results on Thursday will demonstrate if the Congress’s “quiet campaign” has found favour with voters as the primary opposition to the BJP. Top party officials were preoccupied with Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra while the party, which was predicted to win 16 to 51 seats, was polling poorly. The saffron party is in the lead in more than 140 seats, positioning itself for a resounding victory in the state. Hardik Patel of the BJP, who was lagging earlier, is now in the lead from the Viramgam assembly seat.

The AAP, which triumphed in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections on December 7 is the story aside from the BJP’s surge. The party is ahead in more than 10 seats in its first election there, according to early statistics. If the trends are confirmed by the results, the AAP will score a major victory since Gujarat offers a fertile ground for growth as a viable alternative to the Congress, which has lost the support of the electorate.

The leads coming out of Gujarat also imply that the AAP is benefiting from the Congress’s missteps and splintering its base of support, even though it is still unable to completely win over minorities and tribals. These two villages continue to be anomalies in the overall support to the ruling BJP.

The Gujarat elections provide a chance for the AAP, which ran a loud campaign, to establish itself as a national party and a rival to the BJP on a national scale. The AAP thinks Gujaratians will embrace its welfarism-based politics as a result of its success in the Delhi municipal elections.

Having said that, the BJP has faced opposition after 25 years in power. It is counting on Modi’s appeal and charisma to tamp down anti-incumbency. Modi spoke at up to 30 campaign rallies.

The campaign’s main themes this time around included unemployment, rising prices, water shortages in some areas of the state, land acquisition for large projects, and farmers not receiving adequate compensation for crop loss caused by excessive rainfall.

This election saw a 4% decrease in voter turnout compared to 2017, a symptom of voter fatigue and perhaps dissatisfaction among some BJP supporters.

The AAP’s entry altered the Gujarat election, which has historically been a two-way race between the BJP and Congress, into a three-way one.
