Following the Supreme Court ruling on atrocities against Dalits, Dalit outfits all across the country turned violent as an outrage against the ruling. As a result 9 people lost their lives on Monday in MP, UP and Rajasthan.

A spokesperson of the Home Ministry was quoted as saying that they were closely monitoring the situation in the wake of Bharat Bandh protests.

While making an official statement, DIG, Law & Order, Uttar Pradesh said that there will be an inquiry on people spreading rumors on Social media and they have detained 448 people for legal action.

BSP Chief Mayawati said that anti-social elements were being sent to cause violence during the protests which resulted in death of several people and destruction of public property. She said this in response to the ongoing nationwide protest called by several Dalit organizations

Senior Politician Ramvilas Paswan aid that we can understand that people are angry and are protesting, but the Congress should not take advantage of the situation and play politics. He also said the Congress never gave the Bharat Ratna to Ambedker and were now acting like his followers.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh made a sincere appeal to all Political outfits and groups to maintain peace and law and order. He also requested them to shun violence and initiate a peaceful protest.

He also informed that PM Modi government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court for reconsidering the verdict on the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) Protection Act

The Bharat Bandh ha effected many states in India and especially Punjab which came to a standstill. Also, CBSE postponed the board exams scheduled for April 2 and transport services have been suspended.

All schools have been requested to remain shut on Tuesday in Agra due to the violence and protests in the city.
