A major cause of mental illnesses, which are mostly symptoms under mental retardation, is the lack of iodine in the body. Iodine affects most children in two ways. For the first time, when a pregnant woman is deficient in iodine, the mental and physical development of the child is affected. At the same time, children suffer from such diseases due to lack of complete nutrition in childhood. Iodine deficiency or iodine deficiency disorder in women can be the cause of cretinism, stillbirth and miscarriage. Even a slight deficiency of iodine during pregnancy can affect a child’s learning ability.

Iodine deficiency disorder is a serious problem found all over the world. According to statistics, around 1.5 billion people worldwide are at risk of iodine deficiency disorder. At the same time, according to sources, more than 200 million people in our country are expected to be vulnerable to this danger while 71 million people are suffering from this disorder. However it is very easy to prevent such disorder. The easiest way to do this is to consume a limited amount of iodized salt daily.
