State media Xinhua has said that China has taken this decision in the Politburo meeting under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

This decision has been taken recently when China’s population figures were made public, which showed that its population has grown at the lowest speed in the last several decades.

After this, pressure increased on China to motivate couples to produce more children and prevent the decline of the population.

Population data released earlier this month said that 12 million children have been born in China in the past year, which is a major decline after 2016 and the lowest since 1960.

In 2016, 18 million children were born in China.

After these figures of the population, it was believed that China would relax the family policies of childbirth.

Family Planning and Forced Abortion China

In 2016, the Chinese government ended the disputed one-child policy and allowed people to have two children.

But even after the relaxation of this rule, the birth rate in the country increased in the first two years but then started falling.

“The impact of the second child’s policy had a positive impact on the birth rate but proved to be too short-term,” says Yu Suu, chief economist at The Economist Intelligence Unit.

In 1979, with the aim of limiting the population growth, China had implemented a one-child policy, due to which the population figures kept coming up accordingly.

Families who violated this rule had to face fines, fear of losing employment or sometimes forcible abortion.
