Mars

NASA’s Perseverance rover has completed 100 days after landing on Mars.

During this, the rover is constantly looking for signs of microorganism existence there. Along with this, the rover is also trying to investigate the past climate and geology of this planet.

The rover has taken many amazing pictures of the planet since its landing around a 49-km-wide crater named ‘Jezoro’ just north of the Red Planet’s equator on February 18.

A small helicopter Ingenuity has also sent aerial photographs from here. This is the first time a helicopter has flown on another planet.

See, selected pictures from NASA’s Mars mission sent so far.

The Ingenuity Helicopter is seen standing under the rover in this picture from March 30, 2021

Mars mission

For the first time on any other planet, the record for the flight of a helicopter was made when the Ingenuity helicopter made its first flight on Mars on 19 April 2021. During this flight, the helicopter rose to a height of about 10 feet above the surface and hovered for several seconds before landing back.

On 22 April 2021, Ingenuity took the first color aerial image during its second successful flight. The drone flew to an altitude of about 16 feet, tilted and swung forward six feet before landing at the take-off point. The traces of perseverance and the shadow of ingenuity are clearly visible on the surface of Mars.

Ingenuity captured a picture of Perseverance during its third flight. At that time this mini helicopter was at a distance of 278 feet from the rover, while it was flying at a height of 16 feet above the surface.
