If you like sleeping, nap is your favorite hobby, then there is good news for you. A new study published in a journal called Heart revealed that people who take naps or fall asleep during the day reduce the risk of heart attack. The research team at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland, did a study and came to the conclusion that people who sleep once or twice a day during the day reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke by 50 percent. Than those who do not sleep at all during the day.

For this study, the researchers tracked the activities of 3 thousand 462 Swiss adults between 35 and 75 years for about 5 years. When this study began, about 58 percent of the participants in the study said that the bunkers had not taken a nap during the day in the previous week, while 19 percent said they had taken a nap once or twice. About 12 percent blinked 3 to 5 times and 11 percent snoozed 6 to 7 times.

By taking a nap during the day, the risk of heart disease was reduced by 48%.
By the end of the study, the researchers concluded that those people who snoozed or slept once or twice a day during the day had a risk of heart attack, stroke and heart failure . Reduced by 48 percent compared to those who did not sleep at all during the day. This study was observational i.e. the researchers did not do any study on its cause and effect as to why taking a nap every day is good for heart health.

Just a 20-minute nap during the day is enough
However, according to the lead author of the study, taking a nap in the day can be considered good for the day because the stress level which increases when sleep is not completed, decreases by taking a nap during the day. However, nothing has been said in this study about how long to sleep or to take a nap. But according to the National Sleep Foundation, a 20-minute nap during the day is enough to improve your mood as well as to make you more alert.
