The God of the earth i.e. doctors has an important role in saving the lives of patients suffering from brain hemorrhage and heart attack. However, even after reaching the emergency of a hospital-like AIIMS in Delhi, these patients have to wait for the doctor. The reason for this is that when the patient reaches here, the doctor has to be called by phone, but now this will not happen.
In fact, the expert committee constituted on the instructions of the Union Health Ministry has now felt the need to appoint resident doctors of cardiology and neurology in an emergency. On August 6, the Faculty Cell has issued instructions in this regard to implement the recommendation of the committee. If this is implemented, doctors of heart and neuro will be present 24 hours in an emergency.
The first one hour is considered the golden hour for heart attack patients. After this, every minute delay in treatment takes a toll on the heart muscle. Similarly, the initial three hours are considered critical for the treatment of stroke.
A senior AIIMS doctor said that one, it takes a long time for a patient to reach the hospital. Even after reaching the emergency, some time is wasted in calling the resident doctor and reaching the doctor. In such a situation, it is difficult for serious patients to get treatment at the right time. Anyway, in the emergency of AIIMS, there is a huge crowd of patients of various diseases. If the doctors of cardiology and neurology are present in the emergency, then the patients of heart attack and stroke can be treated mainly by screening. For this, the Heads of Cardiology and Neurology have been asked to appoint additional resident doctors in the department for an emergency.
In this regard, the AIIMS administration says that the doctors appointed in the emergency department of the institute are trained for the initial treatment of heart attack and stroke. Apart from this, resident doctors of Cardiology and Neurology are called immediately when needed. How the committee’s recommendation will be implemented in the future, it will be clear later.
Heart command started in Safdarjung Hospital
Despite having a 500-bed emergency center at Safdarjung Hospital, a 24-bed heart command center has been set up in the super-specialty block. So that heart attack patients can reach the heart command center directly without going to the emergency. The Heart Command Center had to be closed during the second wave due to the arrangement for treatment of corona in the super-specialty block. Now it has been opened. AIIMS has a cardiac and neuro center for heart and neuro diseases, but it does not have facilities like heart command.
