World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day: Harish Singh Negi, working as an officer in a company in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, has overcome lung cancer within five months. He is now leading a normal life and is going to yellow his daughter’s hands on 26 February.

Harish Singh Negi was employed in CISF. After taking voluntary retirement, he took over the post of senior manager (administration and security) at the Tata company in Rudrapur. When he bleed with mucus in December 2015, he underwent an examination at a large private hospital in Delhi and found that he had lung cancer. Doctors cited age as saying that their chemotherapy and radiotherapy cannot be done simultaneously on World Cancer Day.

Negi told that he had a leg severed in a road accident. The hand itself was handled using a handkerchief to stop the bleeding. Seeing their passion, the doctors did some necessary tests and decided to give both the therapy together. Continued treatment till February 2016. In March 2016, he returned to the company and offered his services. After this, from April to May 2016, he again underwent treatment in a private hospital in Delhi and returned after beating cancer.

Negi said that even today doctors in private hospitals in Delhi give his example to other cancer patients. After chemotherapy and radiotherapy together, he had severe blisters in his mouth.

Cancer patients are increasing in Kumaon

The number of cancer patients in Kumaon is increasing. The OPD of Swami Ram Cancer Institute receives 8352 patients every year. This number increased to 6214 in the year 2020. Kumaon has the highest number of cancer patients of the mouth, throat and uterus.

Mouth and throat cancer patients : 23 percent  of uterine cancer patients: 19 percent  breast cancer patients: 12 percent lung cancer patients 15 percent

two journals also published

Research on urine sac cancer and mouth and throat cancer was conducted at Swami Ram Cancer Institute. Two journals were also published regarding both. The head of the institute, Dr. KC Pandey, said that most of the work on urinary cancer has been done in Japan, while work was done in many big institutes in the country regarding cancer of the mouth and throat. On comparing it with big institutions, it became clear that patients are getting treatment similar to them here. In addition, two generals have been published.

State Cancer Research Institute has not landed on the ground

The State Cancer Research Institute’s ongoing project from 2014-2015 has not yet landed on the ground. 152 posts were approved by the government for the institute in the year 2019. Bridkul was tasked with the construction. Till now, there has been a catchment of forest land. However, fresh forest land has been sought by the State Cancer Research Institute. Institute Director Dr. KC Pandey says that the NGT has given in-principle consent for the institute.
