The central government plans high-speed bullet trains linking New Delhi with Varanasi (a pilgrimage city in Uttar Pradesh) and Prayagraj (a train that connects to Prayagraj), both of which are planned. According to reports, a delegation from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation met with officials in the district to decide the location for the bullet train station. The bullet train will travel over 670km at a speed between 320 and 350 km/hour.

As per the detailed plan, a 941.5 km track will be laid down between Delhi and Varanasi via Agra-Lucknow-Prayagraj. A 130 km separate track will be constructed between Lucknow, Ayodhya to include Ayodhya.

The state government has allotted land for Ayodhya’s bullet train station to the NHSRC. Officials from the NHSRC also marked the site. Ayodhya officials stated that the station will be located near Maryada Purushottam Shree Ramchandra Airport, which is being built near the Lucknow–Gorakhpur highway bypass.

The route will see two pairs of bullet trains running: one between New Delhi, Ayodhya, and the other between New Delhi & Varanasi. The entire project to connect Ayodhya, Varanasi and Delhi by high-speed bullet trains is expected to cost Rs 2 lakh crore.

In the meantime, land has been purchased in eight villages, including Janura and Ganja in Ayodhya’s Pura Hussain Khan district, Dharampur Sahadat. Friday saw 75 farmers whose land was purchased by Ayodhya DM Anuj Jha receive papers of compensation and plots.

According to the DM, the PM housing scheme will provide a home for the displaced farmers, as well as a plot and monetary compensation.
