Sonam kapoor wedding

Bollywood actress and star Sonam Kapoor tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Anand Ahuja who is a businessman.

The wedding was an intimate affair and both the Kapoors and Ahujas preferred to keep it simple and low keySonam kapoor wedding

The celebrations were in full swing at Anil Kapoor’s place-Shringar, for the wedding and the band, bajaa and baaraat moved to Sonam’s aunt, Kavita Sings plush bungalow Rockdale on Bandstand.

The wedding was conducted simply and the couple tied the knot in a traditional Anand Karaj ceremony.

The Guru Granth Sahib was brought from the Golden Temple at Amritsar a day before yesterday for the occasion and the newlywed couple were blessed after the ceremony.

The crème de la crème of Bollywood were in attendance and the dress code was traditional Indian clothing.

Minimal embellishments, floral embroideries, Art Deco motifs and a pastel palette dominated the soiree.

While Sonam’s bestie Jacqueline Fernandez cut a fine figure with a statement parandi tied into her Mississippi-long braided mane, sis Rhea picked a printed and embroidered Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation.

WHO WORE WHAT?

Sonam looked beautiful in a custom-made red and golden lehenga which was designed by fashion designer Anuradha Vakil.

Staying true to her penchant for vintage textiles, the style maven accessorized her bridal look with a choker, a guttapusalu necklace, and a multi-stranded matha patti.

Anand Ahuja’s brilliant dress was a bandhgala and was designed by none other than ace designer Raghavendra Rathore.

Anil and Harshvardhan Kapoor also opted for dresses from Raghavendra Rathore. While the former chose an off-white kurta, the latter picked a pink kurta and layered it with a grey jacket.

There was no shamiana or mandap like other Indian weddings as the couple went for an Anand Karaj wedding.

A source tells us, “It happened in the living room itself. There was a puja and then, both Anand and Sonam exchanged their wedding vows.” The interior of the bungalow was decorated with mogra flowers. “Along with the flowers, it was British perfumer Jo Malone’s first Indian wedding. The fragrance used for the interiors was picked by Sonam herself. She’s a huge fan of mogra, so everything was designed according to her taste.”

The food was fabulous as the families arranged for an Indian menu comprising of Mughlai food and many other dishes from various parts of India.
