Rajasthan Royals beat Kings XI Punjab by 15 runs in the 40th match of the VIVO IPL 2018. For Kings XI Rahul played an astoundingly brilliant knock of 91 runs but it all went in vain as Kings XI were unable to win the match.
The only other batsmen to get to double figures was Stoinis and all the other batsmen were dismissed with single figures.
None of the top order Kings XI batsmen including Gayle, Nair, Ashiwn, Tiwari, could score runs as Kings XI Punjab collapsed in their batting effort.
It was ace bowler KrishnappaGowtham who dismissed Gayle and Ashwin, both in the same over.
While Rajasthan Royals were batting Jos Butler powered them with an amazing 82 to 158.
With this win, Rajasthan Royals moved to the sixth position on the VIVO IPL points table and now have their hopes alive to make it to the playoffs.
It was the single-handed bowling effort of Andrew Tye who took 4 wickets giving away 34 runs and thus restricting Rajasthan Royals to 158 for 8.
Jos Butler came to the rescue as at one stage it looked that the Royals would not even cross the 100 runs mark. He scored a brilliant 82 of 58 deliveries. His contribution led Royals to a moderately respectable total.
Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bat first and put up a quick-fire 35 in the first 5 overs.
Tye took the first wicket as he dismissed Rahane for 9 in the fourth over. But Jos Butler utilized the power play well and took RR to a 50 runs mark in the first 5 overs.
Marcus Stoinis struck when he dismissed Krishnappa Gowtham for 8 runs as he misread a slower delivery and gave an easy catch to Manoj Tiwari in the 7th over.
Also Afghani spinner Mujeeb bowled well as he took 2 wickets for 21 runs in his four overs and Stoinis also took a single wicket.
