Maldivian President arrives in India amidst China’s trickery and growing political instability, know the meaning of this visit President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived in India on Monday amid growing political instability in the neighboring Maldives and fears of the rise of anti-India forces at the domestic level.  This visit is important not only because the importance of Maldives for India has increased more than ever in the changing global environment, but the way China is trying to influence Maldives, everyone’s eyes are also on PM Narendra Modi. The meeting between Modi and President Solih to be held on Tuesday.

A joint press conference will also be organized by both the leaders. Solih will also meet President of India Draupadi Murmu. Meanwhile, India will also announce new help to its neighboring country. The domestic politics of Maldives determines to a large extent how it will have relations with other countries.

India-Maldives Relations

At present, Maldives is a coalition government of the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) and has given a lot of importance to relations with India. India has given $1.2 billion for infrastructure development in Maldives India has so far provided a total assistance of $ 1.2 billion for the development of infrastructure facilities in Maldives. With the help of India, the work of the biggest highway project there is starting. In this, six islands will be connected by a major highway. Apart from this, India is continuously helping in strengthening the police and judiciary there. Many projects related to social development are being run with the help of India. Maldivian President Solih, who arrived in India on a four-day visit will also help in expanding strategic partnership between the two countries, held a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday. After the meeting, Jaishankar said that Maldives is also an important part of India under its ‘neighbourhood first’ policy. Some of the agreements are expected to be signed.
