Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to a comprehensive win against Sunrisers Hyderabad with 5 wickets to spare on Saturday night. This win helped Kolkata book an important berth in the playoffsSRH vs KKR

Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first and the decision seemed to be a wise one as Shikhar Dhawan and his partner Shreevats Goswami put on 79, in their best opening stand of the season. Dhawan’s wicket fell when the team were on 141 in the 16th over and from then onwards things went from bad to worse for Hyderabad.

For Hyderabad wickets began to tumble as the middle order was unsuccessful in building a strong foundation. Sunrisers lost 6 wickets of only 31 runs as they finally finished with a decent 172 for 9.

Prasidh Krishna had an amazing bowling spell and picked up 4 wickets for 30 runs and in the final over h conceded just 4 runs while taking a brilliant 3 wickets. On the last ball of the match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was run out.

While chasing Knight Riders accelerated from the start and looked good coming out with all guns blazing. Kolkata reached 52 in 3.4 overs with Sunil Narine scoring 29 and Chris Lynn also doing well, before Sunil Narine was sent back to the pavilion by Shakib Al Hasan.

Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn kept the scoreboard ticking and the run rate going adding 67 for the second wicket before a splendid catch by Manish Pandey ended Lynn’s innings. Lynn scored a half-century smashing 55 of 43 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours.

Now Knight Riders needed 54 to win and Sunrisers sensing an opportunity applied the choke. But Uthappa and Dinesh Kartik who scored 45 and 26 not out respectively lead the team to victory and lead to the Hyderabad’s third consecutive loss.
