DD vs KKR

Delhi Daredevils washed out Kolkota Kinght Riders by 55 runs as Daredevils under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer seeked revival in this year’s IPL. Shreyas Iyer hit an unbeaten 93 and took the team to victory under his first match as captain.

The Daredevils lost the toss and were sent to bat. They accumulated a massive 219 runs in their 20 overs with Iyer smashing 93 off 40 deliveries and Prithvi Shaw scoring 62, all the while entertaining the crowd with their batting prowess and elegance

Shaw and Colin Munro who scored 33 had a partnership of 59 runs, before Iyer came in and added 68 runs with Shaw for the second wicketDD vs KKR

Collecting 76 runs from the last four overs, Iyer was in his element as he smashed Shivam Mani for 4 sixes and a boundry in the last over to make Daredevils reach 219.

As Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the Daredevils captain, this was Iyers first match as captain and he impressed all and silenced his critics once and for all by playing a captains innings hitting 10 boundaries, while Shaw hit 7 fours and 2 sixes

KKR dropped Iyer twice and it cost them the match. They had to pay a heavy price for their mistakes. Also there was tremendous work done by Shaw and Sanju Samson who became the youngest player to hit a fifty at age 18 years.

Glenn Maxwell also hit 27, and his knock was also crucial as the Daredevils finally reached a mammoth total of 219 in their 20 overs.

Former captain Gambhir, sat out of the match because of lack of form.

The Daredevils completed their revenge against KKR by restricting them to 164 for 9, in their 20 overs and replied strongly to their loss by 71 runs at Eden Gardens.

While batting KKR never looked in the game as they were chasing a massive total and lost four wickets in the powerplay overs.

Maxwell sent back Chris Lynn for 5 and Trent Boult struck twice to send back Uthappa for 1 and Narine for 26.

The KKR side was reeling under pressure as they were reduced to 51 for 4 in six overs, and all hopes were pinned on Captain Dinesh Karthik who managed an 18 of 18 deliveries.

KKR needed 137 from the last 10 overs and they depended heavily on Andre Russell who scored 44 of 30 balls.

KKR then needed 80 from 5 overs and with Russell in his element it was not a tough task, but Shubham Gill, who had a 64 runs partnership with Russell, but was finally run out after making 37 runs

Amit Mishra took 2 wickets for 23 runs and Lima Plunkett and Avesh khan controlled and tamed the KKR side in the middle overs, drying up the runs.

While Daredevils were bating, the started by Raising a 50 in just the fifth over Munro ensured Daredevils has a blasting start. Munro with Shaw made runs easily as they smashed spinners Peeyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav comprehensively.

The KKR bowlers’couldn’t control the onslaught and only Mavi troubled the batsmen a little while all other bowlers were being smashed out of the stadium.

In their Powerplay overs Delhi Daredevils score a decent 57 runs as the KKR bowlers all went for runs and were unable to generate wickets.

Mavi took the wicket of Munro and was the only bowler to trouble the hosts.

Rishab pant went for a duck while he was trying to support ityer and his wicket was taken by Andre Russell.

The Daredevils were 140 for 3 after 15 overs.

Iyer scored his half century by smashing a six of Mavi. Iyer was dropped twice and KKR had to pay for their mistakes heavily, as he went on to score 93.
