New Delhi, Jun 2 (PTI) Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu on Wednesday wished Spain’s Carolina Marin a speedy recovery, saying the Olympic Games defending champion will be missed. Marin had to withdraw from the Olympics due to a knee injury.

Marin, a top medal contender at the Tokyo Olympics, suffered a knee injury during practice and withdrew from the Games on Tuesday.

Sindhu, who lost to Marin in the Rio Olympics final, said in a video message on Twitter, “Sad to hear about your injury. Hope you get well soon and come back strong.

Sindhu said, “I remember the last Olympics when we played the finals. Nice to play against you and will miss you on the court this time.

Marin, a prime contender for the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during training and pulled out of the showpiece event on Tuesday.

“So sorry to hear about your injury. Hoping that you will recover soon and come back stronger,” Sindhu, who had settled for the silver medal at Rio Games after losing to Marín in the final, said in a video message posted by the official account of Olympics on Twitter on Wednesday
