Tamil Nadu School Girl attempted Suicide: Christian School forced to become Christians

12th class Student M Lavanya from Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Thirukattupali. Thanjavur tried suicide. She later died at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital on Wednesday, January 19. Her body was not responding to treatment, the doctor stated. She was forced to convert to Christianity, which is the reason for her suicide.

M. Lavanya made a video before the suicide attempt. She claimed that she was scolded by her hostel warden and made to clean every room in the hostel. She also claimed that students were forced to become Christians all the time. The police have received the video.

Because she was constantly forced to follow Christianity, it caused her distress. She chose to stop drinking pesticides and end up dead. Muruganandam, M Lavanya’s father was informed by the school about it on January 10. Lavanya attempted suicide on January 9. but was treated first at a nearby clinic. She continued to vomit and complain of stomach pains, so she was admitted to the hospital.

According to reports, Lavanya became conscious and told doctors about her ordeal and She also attempted to end her own life.

She stated in the video “She asked my parents two years back whether I can convert to Christianity and that she will take care of my educational expenses. Since then, she made me do all the work,
The girl, who was from Ariyalur in the district of Thanjavur, was staying at St Michael’s Girl’s Home.

The doctors informed the Thirukattupalli Police and Lavanya was questioned. According to reports, Lavanya was forced to convert to Christianity by the hostel warden.

Tamil Nadu BJP demanded action against “forced transformation” in the state. K Annamalai, chief of state BJP, said that the FIR did not refer to the girl’s statement about “forced conversion”.

“The video of the girl’s statement before her death shows that she was forced to convert by her warden. The government should conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and bring those responsibly. “The government should implement anti-conversion law,” BJP chief said.
