Taliban fighters have captured Afghanistan’s Rashtrapati Bhavan . According to footage broadcast by Al-Jazeera, a large number of Taliban fighters can be seen inside Kabul’s presidential palace. They are expected to declare their occupation of Afghanistan via Rashtrapati Bhavan, and rename the country the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. After twenty years of fighting, the Taliban captured almost the entire country within days.

United Nations Calls Emergency Meeting

The UN Security Council (UNSC), at Estonia and Norway’s request, will hold an emergency meeting Monday to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan. We will inform you about the most recent situation following the capture.

Us Evacuates Its Employees

After Taliban fighters attacked Kabul on Sunday morning, President Ashraf Ghani fled the country. Countrymen and foreigners also tried to flee the war-torn nation at the same time. However, commercial flights have been closed from Kabul airport so these efforts were hampered. Antony Blinken (US Secretary of State) stated that the US is currently systematically expelling its remaining staff from Kabul’s embassy.
