Shiv kumar and Navdeep Kaur got bail

Shiv Kumar, a labor rights activist working with Dalit rights activist Navdeep Kaur, got bail on March 3 in two cases and on March 4 in one case for protesting against an industrial unit by forming an organization. On January 12, Shiv Kumar was detained following Kaur’s arrest. New Delhi: A local court in the Sonepat district of Haryana granted bail to labor rights activist Shiv Kumar in all three cases that were lodged against him for organizing an organization against an industrial unit.

Kumar heads the labor rights organization and works closely with Dalit rights activist Navdeep Kaur.

Both activists worked with the Kundali Industrial Association (KIA). The members of the Mazdoor Adhikar Sangathan told The Wire that both fought for the rights of those laborers who did not get their wages.

According to Live Law, the police had registered a case against Kumar and Kaur on charges of attempt to murder, theft, and extortion.

Shiv Kumar was arrested after Kaur’s arrest on 12 January. Kaur was granted bail on 26 February and after coming out, he asked people to raise their voice for Shiv Kumar’s release.

Kaur had said, ‘He was beaten up badly by the police, his bones were broken. I request people to raise their voices for their bail as well.

In fact, Kumar’s medical examination gave evidence of barbaric torture in custody. First, the Indian Express and then The Wire had reported that in a report submitted by the Chandigarh-based Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, it was said that Kumar suffered at least two fractures from a solid weapon. And there have been many other injuries which are two weeks old.

Taking cognizance of the plea of ​​Kumar’s father, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered a medical examination on 19 February. The report contained details of the injuries to Kumar after he was taken into custody.

Kaur also alleged after her arrest that the police officers had gone to the police station with her without the presence of any female policemen and had been beaten up badly by the police officers.

Kaur and Kumar’s lawyers told The Wire that being tortured in custody in this way would form the basis of their bail.
