Arun Sharma says, “When I took these pictures, 38 pyres were burning on the ghat. Some pyres were being cooled by pouring water.”

Only the bodies of Kovid patients are being burnt at this ghat. Due to the heat of the burning pyre here, trees nearby have also got scorched.

Arun Sharma, who has been doing photo journalism for fifteen years, says, “I have covered the biggest tragedies, but never felt like this. This scene was going to sit in my mind.”

Arun Sharma, who arrived in Kanpur from Delhi on April 16, was taking photographs from the hospitals, from the crematorium ghats. They were trying to assess the prevalence of corona epidemic by visiting different places in the city.

Arun says, “I went to the crematorium even in the day. I felt that the situation was not good. Till then the corpses were being burnt during the day but then the administration decided to burn the corpses at night also. I have a local journalist Had sent a video of burning corpses in the evening. “
