Election Commission Starts Preparations To Link Voters' Names With Aadhaar

The discussion about linking the voter list with Aadhaar is now going to take shape. The Election Commission has started its preparation. By running a campaign from August 1 to December 31, the Aadhaar number of every name included in the electoral roll will be collected, and it will be linked with Aadhaar Card. The target is to complete this process by April 2023. Efforts will be made to reach all the voters and get their Aadhar numbers. Once the names of the voters are linked with the Aadhaar number, there will be no duplicate names in the voter list.

No duplicate name will remain in the voter list

There are more than 35 lakh voters in the district. Following the instructions of the Election Commission, the process of linking Voters’ names with Aadhaar has been started. The representatives of political parties will also be made aware of this. The District Election Officer will also hold a meeting with the representatives of political parties on July 25. They will be appealed to make sure voters get their Aadhar cards.

The Booth Level Officer (BLO) will be sent door-to-door to get the Aadhar card number from the voters. They will enter the Aadhar card number on Form 6B coming in the new format. The Aadhaar card number has to be linked with the voter’s name within a week of the number being taken. Voters will also be able to give Aadhar card numbers online. For this, Form 6B will also be available online. This work can also be done through public service centers. The first camp is planned to be held on September 4.

Assistant Returning Officer JN Maurya said that after all the names of the electoral roll are linked with Aadhaar, no person will be able to remain a voter in more than one assembly or Lok Sabha constituency. With this, it will not be possible to name more than one place in one assembly or Lok Sabha constituency.

Aadhar card numbers of all the voters included in the electoral roll will be collected. Providing an Aadhaar card will be optional. The campaign will be run for this from August 1 to December 31. During this time, people will also be made aware about giving Aadhar cards. All details will be kept strictly confidential.
