With summer in full form it has become almost impossible to step out of the house. As much we want to avoid it, we all need to venture out for our jobs or shopping or paying bills. With mercury reaching almost 47 degree Celsius, the risk of a sunstroke is very real.How to avoid sunstroke this summer

It is dangerous to venture out in the sun without taking the necessary precautions and one must avoid it, as much as possible, but if you have no choice then you need to take the precautions and then venture out in the sun.

These are some tips to avoid a Sunstroke:

  • Be hydrated

It is very important to drink lots of water and liquids in summer. To keep the body hydrated should be your number one priority as having less water can increase the risk of a sunstroke

  • Dress light

Don’t over dress yourself in summers. Try to wear clothes made of cotton or khadi/linen so that there is proper ventilation and less heat which gets trapped in the clothes. Also it is critical to keep your head protected and you can do so by wearing a hat or a scarf over your head. Wear light colors and cotton so that the air is ventilated through your clothes.

  • Limit your exposure to the sun

Try to step out of the house only before 10 am or after 5 pm. Avoid stepping out in the afternoon as that is the time that the temperature is at the maximum. Also try to go to air conditioned places like shopping malls to limit your exposure to the sun and also avoid the high temperatures.

  • Avoid oily and junk food

This kind of food generates heat in the body and so you should avoid it, instead have raw fruits and vegetables so keep cool and healthy this summers
