AIUDF is considered a good hold among Muslims of Bengali origin in Assam. The BJP has been under constant verbal attack on Ajmal, a three-time MP from Dhubri parliamentary seat.
Senior state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had recently called perfume businessman Ajmal the ‘enemy’ of Assam.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Ajmal said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma has this very dirty formula. The formula to divide the people of Assam.
They should concentrate on their work but unfortunately, they have not done any good in the last five years. And that’s why they are taking my name. ”
He said, “BJP should understand that the public is not stupid. It is like saying that the lion will come, the lion will come but Badruddin Ajmal is not a lion. Badruddin Ajmal is a common man.”
The Congress and AIUDF have decided to form an alliance in the state, but the media is constantly questioning how the two parties will distribute seats in minority-dominated areas.
On this, Ajmal says, “The Congress-AIUDF alliance will do very well. We are ready to offer sacrifices in the seat sharing. This sacrifice is being given because removing the BJP from power is our only aim.”
