In one of the most bold attempts in the world to avenge his death by creating a movie out of his tragic killing, the family of killed Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi has authorized a movie on his true to life murder case which shocked the country. Named after the geographical scene and emotional backdrop of the crime, the Raja Raghuvanshi film will be known as Honeymoon in Shillong, realizing on the big screen the cold blooded events that took place in May 2025 when the couple was supposed to begin their life together in happiness.
The goal of this cinematic adaptation is to highlight the deception that Raja endured, sensitize people regarding relationship red flags and give tribute to young man whose tragic life ended in horrible circumstances.
Raja Raghuvanshi, 29 years old, businessman, living in Indore had just married a 25 year old girl, Sonam, who was not a local girl. As the honeymoon destination, the couple traveled to Meghalaya where everything is scenic and beautiful. However, instead of coming back with memories of the loved ones, one of them did.
A Honeymoon Turned Horror Story
The couple disappeared during a hike in Sohra (Cherrapunji) in search of a magnificent waterfall called the Wei Sawdong Falls on May 23. Nine days after, the decomposed body of Raja was left at the door of a gorge. The nature of his injuries pointed to a violent death and within a short span of time, the case ceased to be missing-person but became a murder investigation.
When police started digging themselves more they revealed a convoluted story of betrayal. The inquiries found that Sonam, and her supposedly paramour Raj Kushwaha had arranged the murder of Raja much in advance. The criminal event was not in the form of an impulsive act of violence but was a well-planned injury.

Conspiracy messages, phone calls, and money transfers led to the assumption that somebody was plotting to get Raja out of the way during the honeymoon in Shillong to what was expected to pass off as a tragic accident.

The film will see SP Nimbawat directing it and is projected to start in the later half of 2006. We will be shooting the movie with 80 percent in Indore (the part covering the life and family of Raja) and the remaining 20 percent in Meghalaya where the tragic part of the honeymoon takes place.
To have a feel of realism, the film will be performed by less popular actors. The characteristic traits of Sonam and Raj will be displayed by a fictional name, but in the context of power, the storyline will be based on factual emotional events.
