The video followed her in her changing of clothes to a complete dressing up as Kali with her crown, trident and traditional Kali make up with loud dramatic music. This controversial picture saw a lot of criticism where a number of people accused her of poking fun at religious feelings. Payal did not take long to apologize and beginning of the heated debate.

There emerged an alleged three-months old video, which went viral, fast. It showed Payal in a modern clothing, which as a person portrayed Goddess Kali, holding a trident and appearing in royal attire. My daughter is a devotee of Kali Maa … I considered reproducing the look on her. Now I know that this is a serious error. I beg to apologise at your feet. … I can accept whatever is meted against me as far as punishment is concerned.”
Her statement went further to say that the video was removed after going through the comments in the video to see that it was offensive but reminded that third parties had saved and republished that video.
